It’s a beautiful, sunny winter morning. It’s the perfect time for a drive.
My love of gardening is bursting at this point. We’ve got our seedlings started, but I NEED some new plants for the upcoming garden. Bryan feels the same way. We’re lucky that we don’t get seed catalogs in the mail or we’d be broke.
It’s February 15, 2022, and it’s time for a post Valentine’s Day visit to Woodland Gardens. Woodland Gardens was my first Connecticut garden center after we left Boston and moved to Manchester, Connecticut. And, small world, it was also right down the street from our apartment.
From Northampton, it’s about an hour drive, perfect for a winter morning.
When you walk into the greenhouse from the main shop, you’re just hit with all the lushness and warm, humid air.
Vincas can be hard to find some years, so I grabbed a couple just to have them.
Bryan has been wanting some mint, and he got lucky here, too.
For the last couple of years, I’ve been wanting a passion flower vine. When we lived in Windsor, I had a small plant that grew all around a window and had flowers constantly. The sun there was amazing and we lack that here. Well, they had them and were a good size and loaded with buds! MINE!
It’s staying in a thin plastic bag to acclimate and quarantine. That’s pretty standard, everything gets quarantined. We’ve learned that the hard way. The flowers, though, are SO fun. They open early in the morning and only last a day.
