Ember + Ash Handspun Merino Yarn

In August, I hand-painted this combed merino wool top. I wanted to make a somewhat subdued palette (for me, anyway) that would work as a three-ply.

This is the hand-painted wool prior to steaming it to set the colors:

This is how I break my fiber down into little fluffed butterflies. It makes it easy for me to spin when it’s prepped in this way:
