For the Cookies:
1/8 tsp cream of tartar
6 large eggs
5 cups flour
2 cups confectionary sugar
2 tbs + 1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 cup butter
2 tsp of Anisette oil
For the Glaze:
3 3/4 cups confectioners sugar
1/2 cup warm milk
1 teaspoon anise or almond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
colored sprinkles
Directions
With hand mixer, beat eggs and 1/8 tsp of cream of tartar on high until light and foamy, then add to large mixing bowl
Continue mixing and combine flour, sugar and baking powder and mix on low.
Gradually beat in butter and extract and mixture resembles crumbs.
Then add in beaten eggs to the crumb mixture. The dough will be stiff; if not, add a little bit more flour.
Roll dough into 1 inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 10-13 minutes on 350 degrees.
Bottom of cookies will be slightly browned, tops will not be browned.
While cookies are cooling, make glaze. Mix glaze ingredients.
Dip each cookie in glaze and sprinkle with colored sprinkles.
